Terms

Using Society Adda

Short, and in the same words we would use in a meeting. Where something is your society's responsibility rather than ours, it says so.

Who these terms are with

With the society — the association, its committee, or the company managing it — not with individual residents. The person who registers the society confirms they are authorised to accept them on its behalf.

Residents use their society's site under the society's own rules.

What we provide

The software described on this site, at the society's own address, for as long as the subscription runs. We keep it running, patched and backed up nightly.

We may change features, and we will not remove one a society depends on without notice and a way to export what it holds.

We do not promise the service is never unavailable. We do promise to say what happened when it is.

Registration and review

A society is created only after a person reviews the request and the evidence with it. We may decline, or ask for more, and we may withdraw a society later if the evidence turns out to be false.

Whoever is approved becomes the first administrator, and can appoint others. They are responsible for who they let in after that.

Fees

Per home per month, on the plan the society chooses, exclusive of GST. The first thirty days are free and need no card.

A society is billed on the number of homes on its register when a period starts. Adding a tower mid-period does not change an invoice already issued.

If an invoice is not paid, we will chase it before we do anything else. Access is suspended only after notice, and the data is not deleted while a society is in arrears.

Whose data it is

The society's. We hold it to run the service and for no other purpose: we do not sell it, mine it for advertising, or share it between societies.

A society can export its books, registers and documents at any time, in formats other software reads.

We keep backups for a limited period after an account closes, then destroy them.

What a society is responsible for

Telling its residents what it collects and why, and answering their privacy requests — it holds the records.

Who it grants roles to, and removing them when people leave the committee or the office.

The accuracy of what it enters: we do not audit a society's books or verify its residents' details.

Using the platform lawfully — not to harass a resident, and not to collect more about people than the society needs.

Payments made by residents

Maintenance paid by UPI goes straight to the society's own bank account; we never hold it.

If a society switches on a payment gateway, that gateway's own terms apply to the transaction, and settlement is between the society and the gateway.

Ending it

A society can leave at any time, and should export what it wants first. We do not charge to let a society go.

We can end an account for non-payment after notice, or immediately where the platform is being used to break the law or to harm the people on it.

When an account ends, the subdomain stops resolving. We do not keep a site running in a society's name.

Liability

We are liable for what we control: running the service, keeping societies separate, and handling data as described in the privacy page.

We are not liable for decisions a society makes with the software, for what a committee posts, or for money a society fails to collect. Our liability in any year is limited to the fees that society paid us in that year.

Changes and disputes

If these terms change, societies are told before the change applies, and a society that does not accept it may leave without penalty.

Indian law applies, and the courts at Bengaluru have jurisdiction.

A society taking on a long contract, or one managing many societies, should have its own advisor read these.
